about

This is a song written about climbing the volcano EL Concepcion. It is the active volcano of the two on Isla Ometepe. I hitch hiked from the airport to the ferry to Isla Ometepe. It was a couple hours away, but it all worked out. The problem was the island was a lot bigger than I thought. I had no idea how to get to the farm I was supposed to be working on. I was asking all the people on the ferry if they had heard of the farm and if they could give me directions. With my small grip on Spanish I understood their were many many farms all around the Island and the natives did not know many of their names. Luckily I found a girl from Pennsylvania and she was looking for a friend on a Yoga farm apparently close to the place I was going. We found our way to her friends farm, and that night quickly hatched up a plan to climb that gorgeous, huge and smoking volcano we had been skirting around to get to the farm. In that same night we went to a town closer to the base of the volcano and slept in a hotel so that we could get up with the light and start climbing. It was steep and intensely beautiful. Our guide took us to the very top, we looked down into the fuming abyss. The ground was shaking, you could see the rocks shiver. My banjo was resonating with the grumble of the volcano. Sound carried like light, sharp and piercing. I have never felt the music I played as deeply as I did on that volcano. This song is about the fire that was rekindled in my soul that day,

lyrics

The green of my heart turns red with the Fire
A fire I build with my new start
Its a fire so fluid and strong
It will never come apart

I hold myself a tree
Vibrant changing leaves
Both deep dark obscure green
Changing into vibrant bright bold red
Its bleeding into red
Its all going red

And the Roots Rumble
All through me
Its in my blood
Fading in and out
Its in my blood
As a soft breeze on an open day

Endlessly retracting and recieving
With effortless percieving
We birth and harvest all them threads
We got to knit it all together
All together
We got to bring each and everybodies cores all together
We are going to make a web so strong for us all lean upon
All Together Now!

And the Roots Rumble Deeply
Its in my blood
Fading in and out
Its in my blood
As a soft breeze on an open day....
